A 38-year-old man,Olusola Busayo was on Tuesday remanded by a magistrate’s court Osogbo,Osun state for allegedly raping lady with special needs.
Busayo,a bricklayer was dragged to court by the Nigeria police,Osun command on one-count charge bordering on rape which is contrary to provisions of the criminal code of osun state.
The police prosecutor,Inspector Adejola Adesuyi alleged that the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a lady with special need.
He stated that the offense contradicts and punishable under section 358 of the criminal code cap 34 vol.all laws of Osun state 2002.
However,the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defense counsel,Kehinde Adepoju however applied for the defendant’s bail which the police prosecutor opposed,saying that if the victim keep seeing the defendant it will reignite trauma and the injury she allegedly suffered.
The presiding chief magistrate,O.A Daramola ordered the defendant to be remanded in Ilesha correctional centre.
The case was adjourned till February 27,2026 for mention.
Speaking with the victim’s relatives who pleaded for anonymity she said Busayo was able to perpetrate to the alleged rape because she was sleeping.
According to her,”he was hired as a bricklayer by my husband to work in our compound;he raped my sister in my house knowing I was sick and she cannot talk”
