The Nigeria Police Force has declared the Chairman of the Irewole Council of Osun State, Mr. Jooda Ambaliyu Babajide, wanted over alleged terrorism, homicide, and illegal possession of firearms.
Governor Ademola Adeleke swore in Jooda on February 23, 2025, under the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP.
AFRESH247 recalls that Jooda alongside other chairmen were directed by Governor Adeleke to stay clear of the councils in the state following a crisis rocking LG councils over its control between the PDP and the All Progressive Chairmen.
It could also be recalled that Jooda had been arrested months ago after he was later released over the alleged murder of the reinstated chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Hon. Remi Abass.
In an advertorial in national newspapers, which was signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, Jooda was declared wanted by the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team(IRT), FCT.
Jooda was said to be a businessman whose last known address is Ikire in the Irewole local government area with a round face and brown eyes.
He was described as a dark-skinned man who is 60-years-old.
The advertorial stated that Jooda’s alleged offences are terrorism, illegal possession of firearms, and culpable homicide.
The notice read “If seen arrest and hand over to the nearest police station or the office of the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Force Intelligence, Department (FID), Guzape, FCT, Abuja or call 08027383880.”
