Engineering department students of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara have allegedly detained their course representative over financial exploitation.
The incident occurred after the students accused the course representative of selling a textbook meant to be sold at #3500 at #8500, thereby accumulating a profit of #5000.
According to eyewitness, the students found out that the book was to be sold originally at #3500 by the lecturer while the course representative inflated the price without authorization.
This unauthorized inflation triggered protests among students who claim they were being exploited.

It was also revealed that the course representative recently upgraded his phone, from an IPhone XR to iPhone 16, a sudden lifestyle change which sparked suspicion. The change was described as sudden and questionable by the students.
An eyewitness stated that students began to investigate the matter after noticing the rep’s lavish lifestyle, which eventually led to the discovery of the alleged textbook scam.
The course representative was reportedly confronted and apprehended by students, pending further action by school authorities.
