A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC, in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye on Sunday disclosed that the achievements of President Bola Tinubu have boosted the party’s chances of emerging victorious in the August 8 gubernatorial election in the State.
Addressing newsmen in Osogbo, he emphasized that the policies and reforms introduced by Tinubu’s administration has strengthened the party’s appeal nationwide thereby positioning the party favorably ahead of the poll.
He also noted the recent political developments in the state, including the defection of five federal lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties to the APC, further underscore the party’s growing influence.
He said, “The defection of the five PDP National Assembly lawmakers and the endorsement of the President for a second term in office are indications that the people of this state love the APC and are ready to return it to office in the August 8 governorship election.”
He commended the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji describing him as competent, reliable, and committed to fulfilling his electoral promises, saying “The people of the state are yearning for the return of good governance through the APC, and by August 8, their wishes will be fulfilled. We are confident of winning.”
Oyintiloye also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the APC in Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, for sustaining the party’s structure despite being out of power in the state. He said Oyetola, alongside other party leaders, has worked to strengthen internal unity and create an inclusive framework that accommodates new members without alienating existing ones.
He further encouraged opposition members considering defection to follow the example of the five National Assembly members who recently joined the APC, assuring them that the party has the capacity and culture to accommodate all who are willing to work in the interest of the public good.
He however appealed to the residents of Osun State, urging them not to be swayed by what he described as campaigns of calumny against the APC by rival parties.
