..assures staff of enhanced welfare
The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission,FCC, Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran has declared a zero tolerance policy towards job racketeering, warning that any individual involved will face strict legal consequences.
Speaking at a General Staff meeting on Thursday at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, she reaffirmed her commitment to staff welfare and a transparent recruitment system.
Omidiran identified staff welfare as a top priority for her administration, saying “Our staff are the backbone of this Commission. I understand the challenges many of you face, and I want to assure you that your welfare will receive the attention it deserves. A motivated workforce is essential if we must deliver effectively on our national mandate.”
She added that, “The Federal Character Commission was established to guarantee fairness, equity, and justice in public service recruitment. Anyone involved in job racketeering is undermining the law and betraying the trust of Nigerians.”
To bolster accountability, She announced the introduction of a dedicated whistle-blowing phone line, saying “We are introducing a whistle-blowing number through which Nigerians and staff can safely report anyone involved in recruitment racketeering. The Commission will treat such reports seriously because integrity must remain the foundation of our work.”
She described the meeting as a vital platform for listening to concerns and rebuilding trust between management and the various cadres of the Commission.
Also, The Chairman of the Tripartite Union, Comrade Ameh Benson, commended Omidiran’s leadership since she assumed office in January 2026. He highlighted several early achievements, including the resolution of a long-standing water supply challenge through the provision of a new borehole at the headquarters.
Benson also praised the administration’s focus on professional development, specifically citing a recent digital capacity-building partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
His words, “For the first time in the history of the Commission, staff members have benefited from digital capacity training organised in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency. This training is helping workers acquire the digital skills needed to remain relevant in today’s workplace.”
He noted that these initiatives have provided staff with essential modern skills and restored confidence in the Commission’s leadership.
