The Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, has denied claims that he had withdrawn his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid.
AFRESH247 recalls that the Monarch was accused of withdrawing support for Adeleke’s reelection bid in a viral video.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the palace’s Director of Information and Protocol, Dapo Akinyele, the report was labeled a figment of imagination created by agents of fake news.
According to him, “The attention of Timi In- Council has been drawn to a video purportedly released and shared on various social media platforms by a faceless lady on the allegation of double standard by our highly revered Royal Father.”
Oba Lawal emphasized that his relationship with the family predates the current administration, tracing back to his ascension to the throne in 2008 during the era of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
He credited the Governor’s siblings, Dr. Tajudeen Adedeji Adeleke and Chief Mrs. Modupe Adeleke Sanni, for their continued contributions to the peace and development of the Ede domain.
“Let me state this without any fear of contradiction, the palace has been enjoying tremendous support from the Adeleke dynasty,” the monarch stated, reinforcing the bond between the throne and the Governor’s kinsmen.
The Timi further cautioned politicians and social media users against deploying propaganda that could heat the polity as the state prepares for the upcoming elections.
He concluded with a call for unity, urging residents to join hands to ensure that Governor Adeleke’s second term becomes a reality, saying “Let us imbibe the spirit of oneness and join hands to make the second term of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke a reality.”
