A 35-year-old pregnant woman, Akindoye Esther, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for defrauding one Folashade Kolawole of the sum of N20 million.
Police prosecutor, Anifowoshe Saheed, told the court that the suspect, alongside one other person who is now at large, conspired and obtained a sum of N20 million from one Mrs Folashade Kolawole for a business purpose, knowing fully that it was false.
The offence according to the prosecutor is contrary to and punishable under sections 419 and 516 of the criminal code cap of 34 vol.11laws of Osun State of Nigeria.
But, the suspect pleaded not guilty to the allegations of fraud and conspiracy leveled against her.
Defence counsel, O . A Akinrinade in an oral application charged the court to admit the suspect to bail in most liberal terms.
Police prosecutor, however, opposed the bail application on the ground that the suspect would travel out of the country, if admitted to bail.
However, in her ruling, Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50 million with two sureties.
Thereafter, adjourned the case to March 10, 2026, for hearing.
