The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man, Taye Kasali, for the alleged murder of his mother, Mrs Kudirat Kasali, whose body was recovered from a shallow grave on their family farm.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said operatives from the Bode-Osi Division received a report on Monday,September 1 2026 at about 7:30pm that both Mrs. Kasali and her son were missing.
Following an intelligence-led investigation, Taye was arrested September 7, 2026 in connection for the said murder.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing his mother on August 31, 2026 by slitting her throat with a machete and subsequently burying her body in a shallow grave within the farm,” the statement said.
According to police, Taye told investigators that his mother had allegedly called him a “mad person” and threatened to lease out the farmland, which he described as the family’s main source of livelihood.
Police operatives said the suspect led them to the burial site, where the body of the deceased was dug up. The machete allegedly used in the killing was also recovered as an exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, has directed that the suspect be thoroughly investigated and charged to court upon completion of investigation.
He also assured residents that justice will be served in accordance with the law in the said matter.
