Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has announced the appointment of Dr. Dagogo Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
Governor Fubara, in a statement on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi, also announced the appointment of Barr. Sunny Ewule as his new Chief of Staff (COS) to replace his close ally, Edison Ehie.
According to the statement, the appointments take immediate effect as they are set for swearing-in later in the day (Thursday), at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.
“Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has appointed Dr Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff ( COS). Both appointments are with immediate effect.
“The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday February 26, 2026,” the statement reads.
AFRESH247 recalled that Governor Fubara had on Thursday February 12, 2026 dissolved his cabinet, four days after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with President Bola Tinubu and key political stakeholders from the state, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Though resolutions at the meeting was not made public, however, the meeting was said to be a reconciliatory meeting geared towards resolving the prolonged political crisis in Rivers state.
