The 1996/2002 set of Osogbo Grammar School (OGS) has felicitated SP Ojedele Olanrewaju Tunji, the newly appointed Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Zone XI Command of the Nigerian Police, based in Osogbo.
In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the set, Comrade Oluwole Olasunkanki, the group said its team—led by the President, Comrade Tunde Adedipe—paid a courtesy visit to the Zone XI headquarters on Friday.
The set reminded Tunji that Nigerians expect more from him, urging him to project a better image of the Nigerian Police and to represent the command positively.
Adedipe advised the PPRO to be a “good image maker” of the command and to cultivate cordial relations with the media.
He urged Tunji to take advantage of OGS alumni who are journalists within the zone, saying this would help ensure synergy with media houses to highlight the police’s achievements.
“Nigerians only talk about the bad eggs among the police. People like you are hardly mentioned. It, therefore, behoves on you to let the world know the good things that this zone is doing by engaging the media for the benefit of the command,” Adedipe said.
The association prayed for Tunji to succeed in his new assignment.
Responding, Tunji expressed appreciation for the visit and prayers. He urged the group to continue supporting him through prayers, assuring that he would carry out his duties without fear or favour.
He also appealed to Nigerians to pray for the police, particularly as officers continue to battle challenges such as *banditry and kidnapping*.
