A 48-year-old merchant, Sulaimon Oyedokun, was on Monday arraigned before the Osun State Magistrates’ sitting in Osogbo for allegedly defrauding a businesswoman of ₦4,497,085.
Oyetunji was brought before Chief Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara on a two count charge bordering on fraud and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, told the court that the merchant committed the alleged offences on December 25, 2025, at Alekuwodo area of Osogbo, as he obtained goods valued at ₦4,497,085 belonging to one Areoye Oluwakemi.
He added that he stole the same amount of money belonging to Areoye Oluwakemi at the same place and on the same date.
Inspector Adeoye noted that the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the state criminal Laws of Osun State, 2003.
However, the merchant pleaded not guilty to the offences pressed against him by the police and his counsel, Najite Okobe prayed the court for bail on the most liberal terms.
The presiding magistrate, Dr Ayilara granted him bail in the sum of N2million with two sureties who will be business owners.
He adjourned the matter to October 6th for mention.
