Businessman Billionaire and brother to the Osun State Governor, Dr Deji Adeleke donated N500 million to the Osun State Security Trust Fund during its launch in Osogbo.
The donation was announced at the event presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday. A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, revealed that the state government also pledged N300 million as take-off support for the initiative.
“Billionaire philanthropist and brother of the state governor, Dr Deji Adeleke donated Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m) while several businesses contributed various amounts,” the statement read.
Governor Adeleke said the fund will strengthen security infrastructure across the state. He disclosed that refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers and new patrol vehicles would soon be distributed to security agencies.
“It is neither a political project nor a self-serving policy. This is a necessary policy to secure our people,” Adeleke said. “Only an irresponsible government will abandon the PPP arrangement that is working so well in Lagos, Kaduna, Rivers states, among others.”
The governor said the fund will provide sustainable funding for modern security infrastructure, including a Situation Room with real-time CCTV surveillance and operational tools for security agencies.
“As a trust fund regulated by law, I assure you of strict accountability, transparency and due process in the management of the trust fund,” he added.
Secretary of the Security Trust Fund, Femi Oyedipe, said the initiative would address security challenges and equip operatives. He thereby called on stakeholders to support the fund.
