The second son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba Khamenei has been appointed as Iran’s new supreme leader following the death of his father who was killed last Saturday in the US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
The 56-year-old Mojtaba was announced as his father’s successor on Sunday after a vote by the assembly of experts, group of clerics responsible for the appointment of Iran’s highest authority.
