Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known has Davido has revealed that he’s no longer interested in politics, citing concerns over how celebrities have fared in that space.
During a Twitch livestream with streamer Davrel, Davido recounted his earlier interest in partisan politics, stating that observing other entertainers who ventured into politics influenced his decision.
According to him, those entertainers haven’t recorded significant success, making him reconsider his own aspirations. He noted that his established career, public image and realities of the political landscape has made him think twice about entering the field.
He said, “Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful, I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business.”
